There is a show on National Mexican TV called “El otro Mexico” (The other Mexico) in which the host Carolina Rocha tries to showcase and unique side of Mexican culture.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to take Carolina and her team on a tour with me around the San Juan market in downtown Mexico, to film an episode for the show.
I was a tour guide for Eat Mexico for a little over 3 years now and I still enjoy talking about Mexican food to foreigners like I did on day one.
I love looking at the faces of people when they try new flavors or fruits they’ve never seen before. Watching their reaction when eating their first grasshopper or their surprise when I talk about how good Mexican wine can be while munching on delicious traditional cheeses. It’s been fun, it’s always fun. So for me that day had nothing in particular, except of course, for the fact I had a bunch of cameras following me around and I was all wired up with a microphone.
If you’ve ever been on a tour with me you can relive the experience and if you haven’t had the chance yet, this is a very good example of how a day in the life of a food tour guide looks like.
